Horror Movie Fest on Friday, May 29th

Twenty Something Committee will host a Horror Movie Fest in the Spring Terrace third floor community lounge on Friday, May 29, 2009 at 7:30 PM. Guests will vote to play from a selection of horror films to watch and served light refreshments. There will be an opportunity to choose a movie theme and selection of movies for the next Friday movie night.

There were notices posted on the Resident Council bulletin board and in the common areas of the property. Many thanks to Spring Terrace Resident Services for providing the funds for hosting his event.

Highlights of May 24th Twenty Something Committee Meeting

At the May 24th meeting of the Twenty Something Committee, its Chair J. Jonathan Kincaid discussed and initiated the committee’s agenda, and it included, in summary:

  • To discuss suggestions of upcoming activities geared specifically towards community residents under the age of thirty;
  • To set a day, time, place of future Twenty Something Committee;
  • To designate one of its members as note-taker for the Committee; and
  • To discuss introduction of a Resolution prohibited certain behaviors at Resident Council activities.

All future meetings take place on the first and third Sunday of the month. The next Twenty Something Committee meeting is set to June 7, 2009 at 6:00 PM in the Spring Terrace third floor lounge.

Twenty Something Committee Meeting on May 24th

Twenty Something Chair J. Jonathan Kincaid has announced and posted within the Spring Terrace community notice of upcoming meeting on Sunday, May 24, 2009 at 6:00 PM in the property’s third floor lounge.

All individuals under the age of thirty and the general public, including our members, are encouraged to attend the first committee meeting. There will be discussion and recommendations to the full membership and the Spring Terrace property management and resident services on activities and changes to policies that is beneficial for this growing population.

Highlights of May 20th Executive Committee Meeting

At the May 20th meeting of the Executive Committee, President Brian Yarbrough discussed and initiated the committee’s agenda, and it includes, in summary:

  • To discuss establishing rules of decorum so that everyone who attends the meeting is able to speak and be heard without unnecessary, complicated rules of debate currently within the Robert’s Rules of Order;
  • To appoint J. Jonathan Kincaid to head as Chair of the Twenty Something Committee;
  • To discuss ways that Resident Council can raise funding for activities within the community;
  • To set a date to hold a Monthly Birthday parties for those born in the month of June;
  • To set a date on the call of the President of additional Executive Committee meeting to develop the budgets for both FY 2009 and FY 2010;
  • To appoint one or more individuals whose membership is in good standings as contacts for Apartment Residents on Watch; and
  • To discuss initiating contact with other Foundation Communities’ Resident Councils and assist those who would need technical assistance.

The next Executive Committee meeting is set to June 17, 2009 at 7:00 PM at a place to be later announced.

Highlights of May 14th Meeting

At its meeting held on May 14th, the Members of Resident Council of Spring Terrace Association approved the agenda and adopted new business, in summary:

  • To encourage individuals who receive federal benefits to switch from receiving their benefits by postal mail to electronic direct deposit;
  • To discuss safety concerns in and around the Capital Metro bus stop at St. John and I H 35 Southbound; and
  • To authorize and direct the Treasurer to pay from the General Fund to the order of St. John Neighborhood Association.

Many thanks to Blair Spikes of Capital Metro and Officer Abdul-Khaled of the Austin Police Department for attending our meeting and addressing the concerns from the Spring Terrace apartment community.

The next Regular Membership meeting is set to June 11, 2009 at 7:00 PM in the Spring Terrace third floor community lounge.

Resident Council of Spring Terrace will hold its monthly regular membership meeting on Thursday, May 14th, 2009 in the third floor lounge. We posted notices on the Resident Council bulletin board and in the common areas of the property.

All regular and special membership meetings are open to the public, pursuant to the Bylaws and the Uniform Rules of Procedures of Resident Council of Spring Terrace Association, a Texas Nonprofit Association.

Highlights of April 22th Joint Special Membership and Executive Committee Meeting

At the Joint Special Membership and Executive Committee meeting, the Members of Resident Council of Spring Terrace Association approved the agenda and adopted new business, in summary:

  • To authorize the Executive Committee to appoint Lena Alonzo as Community Liaison with duties and privileges as prescribed by the Uniform Rules of Procedure;
  • To authorize the Executive Committee to change the day, time, and place of all Regular Membership meetings from the second Monday of the month to the second Thursday of the month;
  • To suspend the rules and appoint Ada Hilliard as Social Activities Coordinator vice K. Clark (1975-2009), effective immediately; and
  • To authorize and direct the Executive Committee to establish a Accessibility Committee and a Twenty Something Committee by Uniform Rules of Procedure.

The next Regular Membership meeting is set to May 15, 2009 at 7:00 PM in the Spring Terrace third floor lounge.

Resident Council of Spring Terrace Association received notice from the City of Austin to notify our community of a public hearing will be held to consider a proposed amendment to City of Austin’s Land Development Code.
